Customers of SRP (Salt River Project) or TEP (Tucson Electric Power)
should investigate their financial incentives. SRP’s SolarWise
energy plan offers a payment of $3,000 per kW, up to 3 kW, or $9,000,
when you install a PV system. The following table illustrates the
costs through SRP.

TEP offers incentives of up to $2000 toward the purchase of a PV
system, depending on the system, that can be combined with the $1000
state tax credit and the 30% federal tax credit. This combination of
benefits yields and out-of-pocket cost for a $7,000 system of $2,200.,
which is higher than the present value of the savings using APS rates.
However, both SRP and TEP offer full-retail net metering to their residential
customers. This allows the customer to capture the full retail
value for any solar kilowatt-hours sold back to the utility. For
customers located within these service areas, a similar analysis should
be conducted to evaluate the net present value of an investment.
